Tube Adaptor Fitted to Tube
This type of anchor is ideally suited for holding down all types of temporary structures on compacted ground. The anchor is simply
pushed through the slot and then driven in using a hammer (2kg lump hammer is ideal). As it travels down through the slot it rotates
along its helix.
Once the underside of the head has reached the bracket it traps it in place. Any upwards movement by the structure will want to pull
the anchor back out of the ground. However, because it is unable to rotate and therefore unscrew itself it is held in the ground until it
reaches its failure load rating.
All SpirafixTM anchors can be removed by using a 1-1/8” AF socket or spanner and unscrewing them back out of the ground.
Further Details on Bracket Use
SFA238 & SFA239 - 90° Brackets
These two brackets can be attached to timber beams, either laying flat or upright. M8/M10 coachscrews can be used to attach the
brackets. Use SFA269 for lighter applications.
SFA267 - Flat Adaptor
This adaptor can be attached to a base plate for any column. Three 10mm holes need to be drilled through the base plate with the
same hole spacing as the adaptor. The adaptor is then bolted to the base plate (either on top or underneath) such that the slot in the
adaptor is not covered. When the column is placed on the ground it can then be secured by driving a SpirafixTM anchor through the
slot.
SFA269 - 90° Bracket
This bracket can be fitted to any vertical face of a structure. It is more likely to be used for timber applications.
SFA270 - 48mm Dia Scaffold Tube Adaptor
This can be used to hold any horizontal 48mm diameter tubes to the ground. The bracket bolt is removed and the bracket placed over
the tube. The bolt is then refitted and tightened ensuring that the slot is horizontal. The tube, when on the ground, can then be held
by driving a SpirafixTM anchor through the slot.
SF271 - 48mm Dia Vertical Scaffold Cup
This is used to support vertical scaffold poles. Place the cup where required on the ground and then drive a SpirafixTM anchor through
the slot at the bottom of the cup. Place the tube in the cup and then tighten the M12 grub screw on the side to retain the pole. The
pole will sit on the upper side of the anchor head, which will be trapped in place once the grubscrew is tightened. The anchor will
support the pole and prevent it from settling in the ground. For load ratings see the values on the load chart.
