SF50-8-840A Spirafix Anchor SF50-8-1050A Spirafix Anchor SF50-8-1260A Spirafix Anchor ©Spirafix Limited 2010 - All Rights Reserved - Updated 10/04/2011 Made with Xara Web Designer 6 The 50mm diameter range of SpirafixTM anchors can be installed using a 1kg to 3kg lump hammer (sometimes called a club hammer). The longer the anchor the heavier the hammer needed. Using a light hammer to install the anchors will not generate enough momentum and is likely to cause deformation of the head. A series of light blows is better than fewer heavier ones.    If the ground conditions are soft we recommend that you screw them in instead, as using excessive hammer force will force the anchor down without allowing it to rotate naturally on its helix. The best technique is to use a flat ring spanner (30mm across flats) on the anchor head and turning the anchor in with one hand whilst using the hammer with the other. With this method less hammer force is required. If many anchors are to be installed then a 15kg slide hammer is a good option, especially where there is difficulty getting power equipment to site. Please call us on 01986 888085 for further details of this equipment. Another option for installing the anchors is using an impact wrench (pneumatic, petrol, electric corded or battery operated). Short bursts with downward pressure are needed to start the anchors otherwise they tend to spin. If this method is being used then it is better to start the anchors with a hammer and drive them in 15cms or so. We also have shanks and cups for impact hammers such as Hilti, Kango & SDS Max. For very heavy work a petrol driven Wacker Neuson breaker hammer with a 50mm driving cup can be used.      * The Load Ratings are indicative only (see Load Chart for more detail).
