Client: Daval construction - Wimbledon media centre
Spirafix were contacted to attend site and complete load tests to a factored load specified by structural engineers for the underpinning of a rebar lattice concrete pad as a foundation to support the new Wimbledon media centre planned for construction. The idea was to use a series of anchors which would underpin he concrete raft on the otherwise not suitable ground. The image on the right shows pre installed Spirafix anchor which were tested to the actual depth for the project remit 8 months previously to the project starting to allow for product size specification.
Anchor installation
Further to specification of the anchors as a result of meeting required loads as specified from structural engineers. Spirafix manufactured specified products and 3.5 weeks later were on site installing the anchors for Daval. With pre-marked locations on site each anchor had to be installed so the anchor level was plum with the first anchor that was installed. On site work was complete successfully and anchors were installed to specification. Leaving the client to implement rebar lattice structure and concrete pour for the foundation.
Project completion
Once all anchors were installed on site M24 threaded bar with a square plate was installed sandwiched between M24 washers and nuts. Next phase was to install rebar lattice structure around the anchors and plate. The last phase with regards to the anchors was a concrete pour which allowed the building to have a solid base for further construction to take place.
